दूरदर्शन में मंगलेश दा पर चर्चा

समझ नहीं आ रहा कि कहां से शुरू करूं। मेरे जैसे अदने व्यक्ति के लिए संभव भी नहीं है मंगलेश डबराल जैसे विराट व्यक्तित्व को किसी खांचे में फिट कर परिभाषित करना। सच कहूं तो ऐसा किया भी नहीं जाना चाहिए। मैंने मंगलेश दा को करीब से देखा और समझा भी है। पहली नज़र में वे बेहद कठोर नज़र आए थे, ठेठ अकड़ू टाइप। लेकिन, धीरे-धीरे जब उन्हें जान-समझ गया, तब महसूस हुआ कि वह तो बेहद सहृदय इन्सान हैं। एक व्यक्ति के रूप में भी और एक कवि एवं साहित्यकार के रूप में भी। उनमें पहाड़ समय हुआ था और पहाड़ में वो। यह दीगर बात है कि गांव छोड़ने के बाद वे कभी वापस नहीं लौटे, बावजूद उनके अंदर पहाड़ हमेशा उसी रूप में जिंदा रहा, जैसा कि वह छोड़कर गए थे। 

मंगलेश की लेखनी कभी भी स्वयं को पहाड़ से विरत नहीं कर पाई। वह उत्तराखंड के पहले कवि हैं, जिन्होंने पहाड़ को अपनी कविता और गद्य में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर पहचान दिलाई। इसलिए जब उनकी चेतना और संवेदना पर परिचर्चा की बात आई तो मैं इसमें हिस्सा लेने से इन्कार नहीं कर पाया और निर्धारित समय से पूर्व दूरदर्शन पहुंच गया। साथी मुकेश नौटियाल लगभग 20 मिनट बाद पहुंचे। तब तक मैं गेट पर ही उनका इंतजार करता रहा। एक बजे के आसपास हम अतिथिगृह में पहुंचे। वहां राणाजी (कार्यक्रम अधिकारी) ने हमसे मेकअप रूम में चलने का आग्रह किया। वहां पहुंचे तो देखा कि कवियत्री बीना बेंजवाल का मेकअप किया रहा है। मैंने सोचा शायद महिलाओं के लिए जरूरी होता होगा, लेकिन बीना जी के उठने के बाद जब मेकअप कर रही महिला ने मुझसे भी दर्पण के सामने बैठने के लिए कहा तो तब जाकर सारा माजरा मेरी समझ मे आया।

मेरे लिए यह बिल्कुल नया अनुभव था, क्योंकि पहले कभी इस तरह चेहरे की सजावट नही की गई थी। फिर सोचा हो सकता है उम्र के प्रभाव को दबाने के लिए ऐसा किया जाना जरूरी हो। खैर! मेकअप रूम से सज-धजकर हमने स्टूडियो में प्रवेश किया, उसका हासिल यह परिचर्चा है। मैं अच्छा वक्ता नहीं हूं, लेकिन विषयों की थोड़ा-बहुत समझ होने के कारण साहित्यिक बिरादरी के लोग मेरे साथ बैठना पसंद करते हैं। मेरी हमेशा यही कोशिश रहती है कि दिमाग को वैचारिक स्तर पर तरोताजा रखूं। अच्छे एवं वैज्ञानिक सोच वाले लेखकों को पढूं। संस्कृति एवं संस्कारों से ख़ुद को जोड़े रखूं। मंगलेश डबराल भी इसी पांत के कवि एवं साहित्यकार हैं। समकालीनों में सबसे ज्यादा तैयार, मंझी हुई और तहदार ज़बान लिखने वाले। इससे भी बड़ी बात यह कि वह उत्तराखंड से हैं और उनकी कविताओं ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मजबूत पहचान कायम की।

मुझे अच्छा लगा कि कवियत्री बीना बेंजवाल के पास मंगलेश डबराल की सभी पुस्तकें मौजूद हैं और उन्होंने इनका गहन अध्ययन भी किया है। भाई मुकेश नौटियाल भी मंगलेश दा के काफी करीबी रहे हैं और उन्होंने मंगलेश को पढ़ा भी खूब है। यही पढ़ने-लिखने की परंपरा हमें एक-दूसरे के करीब लाती है। हमारा मंगलेश से अपनापा भी इसी विशेषता के कारण है। मैं दूरदर्शन जाते हुए उत्तरांचल प्रेस क्लब की पत्रिका 'गुलदस्ता' की दो प्रति भी साथ ले गया था। इसमें तमाम साथियों के उत्तराखंड आंदोलन के संस्मरणों को समाहित किया गया है। इसे मैं अपना सौभाग्य मानता हूं कि पत्रिका के संपादन की जिम्मेदारी मुझे मिली और मैंने भी इसे निभाने में अपनी ओर से कोई कसर बाकी नहीं रखी। लिहाज़ा ऐसे दस्तावेज को अधिक से अधिक लोगों तक पहुंचाना मैं जरूरी समझता हूं। अच्छा यह लगा कि बीना जी और मुकेश भाई पत्रिका की प्रति पाकर काफी खुश हुए। इसके बाद मैंने मुकेश भाई को उनके आफिस तक छोड़ा और खुद भी आफिस की राह चल पड़ा।

Discussion on Manglesh Da in Doordarshan

Don't know where to start.  It is not even possible for an ordinary person like me to fit a huge personality like Manglesh Dabral into any box and define him.  To be honest, this should not even be done.  I have seen and understood Manglesh da closely.  At first glance he appeared very rigid, a typical stubborn type.  But, when I gradually got to know him better, I realized that he was a very kind-hearted person.  Both as a person and also as a poet and litterateur.  There was a mountain of time in them and he in the mountain.  It is a different matter that after leaving the village he never returned, yet the mountain always remained alive within him in the same form in which he had left it.

Manglesh's writing could never distance itself from the mountain.  He is the first poet from Uttarakhand, who gave international recognition to the mountain in his poetry and prose.  Therefore, when it came to the discussion on his consciousness and sensitivity, I could not refuse to participate in it and reached Doordarshan before the scheduled time.  Partner Mukesh Nautiyal arrived after about 20 minutes.  Till then I kept waiting for him at the gate.  We reached the guest house around 1 o'clock.  There Ranaji (programme officer) requested us to go to the make-up room.  When we reached there, we saw that poetess Beena Benjwal was doing her makeup.  I thought maybe it would be necessary for women, but after Beena ji got up, when the woman doing make-up asked me to sit in front of the mirror, then I understood the whole matter.

This was a completely new experience for me, because face decoration had never been done like this before.  Then it was thought that it might be necessary to do this to suppress the effects of age.  well!  After getting dressed up from the make-up room, we entered the studio, what we achieved is this discussion.  I am not a good speaker, but because of my slight understanding of the subjects, people from the literary fraternity like to sit with me.  I always try to keep my mind fresh at the ideological level.  Read good and scientifically minded writers.  Keep myself connected to culture and traditions.  Manglesh Dabral is also a poet and litterateur of this line.  The most prepared, fluent and well-spoken writer among his contemporaries.  What's more, he is from Uttarakhand and his poems have gained strong recognition at the international level.

I liked that poetess Beena Benjwal has all the books of Manglesh Dabral and has studied them thoroughly.  Brother Mukesh Nautiyal has also been very close to Manglesh da and he has also studied Manglesh a lot.  This tradition of reading and writing brings us closer to each other.  Our affinity with Manglesh is also due to this specialty.  While going to Doordarshan, I had also taken with me two copies of Uttaranchal Press Club's magazine 'Guldasta'.  It contains the memoirs of many comrades about the Uttarakhand movement.  I consider it my good fortune that I got the responsibility of editing the magazine and I left no stone unturned in fulfilling it.  Therefore, I consider it necessary to make such documents available to as many people as possible.  It was good that Bina ji and Mukesh Bhai were very happy after receiving the copy of the magazine.  After this, I dropped Mukesh Bhai to his office and I myself started on my way to the office.
