कई दिन से बाइक का इंजन ऑयल लीक हो रहा है। घर में मकान मालिक रोज बाइक के नीचे एक कागज रख देते हैं, ताकि तेल उसी में गिरे। आफिस की पार्किंग में भी बाइक के नीचे काफी तेल जमा रहता है। तकरीबन एक हफ्ता हो गया है, रोज तेल गिर रहा है। कल मैंने लाइब्रेरी के साथी दिनेश खत्री से इसकी चर्चा की थी, लेकिन कोई उपाय नहीं सूझा तेल को गिरने से रोकने का। आज फिर मैंने खत्री से चर्चा की तो निष्कर्ष निकला की या तो इंजन के नीचे लगे नट की चूडी़ खराब है या फिर वो ढीला हो रखा है। खत्री ने कहा, "चलिए देखते हैं। चूडी़ खराब होगी तो उस पर धागा लपेट देंगे।"
दरअसल, कोविड कर्फ्यू के चलते आटोमोबाइल्स की दुकानें बंद हैं। ऐसे में फिलहाल जुगाड़ से ही काम चलाया जा सकता है। जब दुकान खुल जाएंगी तो सर्विस कराने के साथ नट भी बदलवा दूंगा। फिलहाल तो इंजन ऑयल लीक होना बंद हो जाए बस। बहरहाल! धागा लेकर खत्री और मैं पार्किंग में पहुंच गए। खत्री आफिस के कार ड्राइवर से नट खोलने के लिए चाबी व पलाश ले आया। फिर हमने बाइक को स्टैंड से उतारकर नीचे लेटाया और जुट गए नट खोलने में। पता चला कि नट की चूडी़ खराब हो गई है, जिससे वो टाइट नहीं हो पा रहा।
हमने नट पर धागा लपेटकर कसने की कोशिश की, लेकिन सफलता नहीं मिली। तभी वहां आनलाइन का साथी सुनील नेगी आ गया। उसने सुझाव दिया कि कपडा़ लगाकर नट को कसा जाए। पहले पतला कपडा़ लगाया तो नट टाइट नहीं हुआ, लेकिन कपडे़ को दोहरा करके लगाने पर नट पूरी तरह टाइट हो गया। मैंने उसे चाबी से पूरी तरह कस दिया। अब तेल लीक होने की गुंजाइश नहीं थी। हालांकि, इसका पता एकाध घंटे बाद ही चल सकता था। खैर! नट कसने के बाद हम आफिस आ गए। तकरीबन एक घंटा लगा होगा नट कसने में।
आफिस में आने के बाद मैंने खत्री से कहा, "इंजन ऑयल और एक 17 नंबर का नट ले आना।" उसने भरोसा दिलाया कि ले आएगा। साथ ही उसने सुबह नौ बजे के आसपास याद दिलाने के लिए फोन करने को भी कहा। असल में खत्री ने जब बाइक में इंजन ऑयल चेक किया तो पता चला कि अब दोएक दिन के लिए ही बचा है। अगर आज-कल में ऑयल न डाला तो इंजन सीज हो सकता है। इसी आशंका से डरकर मैंने खत्री से इंजन ऑयल मंगाया है। अच्छी बात यह है कि अब इंजन से ऑयल गिर नहीं रहा।
नट कसने के बाद तकरीबन छह घंटे बाइक पार्किंग में खडी़ रही, लेकिन एक बूंद भी तेल नहीं टपका। इससे मेरा तनाव लगभग खत्म हो गया है। अन्यथा पिछले कुछ दिन से ठीक से नींद भी नहीं आ पा रही थी। हर वक्त यही भ्रम रहता था कि न जाने कितना तेल गिर गया होगा। अब बस! यही बात दिमाग में घूम रही है कि न जाने इंजन ऑयल कितने पैसे का आएगा। नट की कीमत क्या होगी। अभी रात के एक बजे हैं। दो बार बाइक चेक करके आ गया हूं, बिल्कुल भी तेल नहीं गिरा। निश्चित रूप से आज अच्छी नींद आएगी। ...तो ठीक है। शुभरात्रि मितरों!!!

Engine oil leakage increased stress

The engine oil of the bike is leaking since many days. In the house, the landlord puts a paper under the bike every day, so that the oil falls in it. There is a lot of oil stored under the bike even in the office parking lot. It's been almost a week, oil is falling everyday. Yesterday I had discussed this with the library mate Dinesh Khatri, but did not think of any way to stop the oil from falling. Today again I discussed with Khatri and it came to the conclusion that either the bolt of the nut installed under the engine is bad or it is loose. Khatri said, "Let us see. If the bangle is damaged, we will wrap the thread on it."
Actually, automobile shops are closed due to Kovid curfew. In such a situation, work can be done only by jugaad for the time being. When the shop opens, I will get the nuts changed along with service. For now, the engine oil should stop leaking. However! Taking the thread, Khatri and I reached the parking lot. Khatri brought the key and the palash to open the nut from the office car driver. Then we took the bike off the stand and laid it down and got busy in opening the nuts. It was found that the bangle of the nut has got damaged, due to which it is not able to be tight.
We tried tightening the nut by wrapping the thread, but without success. Then there came online partner Sunil Negi. He suggested that the nut be tightened with a cloth. The nut did not become tight when first applied a thin cloth, but after applying the cloth twice, the nut became completely tight. I tightened it completely with the key. Now there was no chance of oil leaking. However, it could be detected only after an hour or so. Well! After tightening the nuts, we came to the office. It would have taken about an hour to tighten the nut.
After coming to the office, I told Khatri, "Bring engine oil and a number 17 nut." He assured that he would bring it. At the same time, he also asked to call around nine o'clock in the morning to remind him. In fact, when Khatri checked the engine oil in the bike, it was found that now only two days are left. If oil is not poured in today-to-days, then the engine may sizzle. Fearing this apprehension, I have ordered engine oil from Khatri. The good thing is that the engine oil is not spilling now.
After tightening the nut, the bike stood in the parking lot for about six hours, but not a single drop of oil was leaked. My stress is almost gone by this. Otherwise, I was not able to sleep properly for the last few days. There was always this illusion that not knowing how much oil would have spilled. Now enough! The same thing is going on in my mind that I don't know how much engine oil will cost. What will the nut cost? It's only one o'clock in the night. I have come after checking the bike twice, no oil spilled at all. Will definitely sleep well today. ...okay then. Goodnight friends!!!
