दून में बिखरे संस्कृति के रंग

लोक कोई भी क्यों न हो, मुझे अति प्यारा है। लोक हर रूप, हर रंग में मुझे सुहाता है और मन करता है कि मैं उसमें गहरे तक डूब जाऊं। मेरी कोशिश रहती है कि जब भी, जितना भी वक्त मिले, वह लोक को समर्पित हो। हालांकि, बचपन के सात-आठ साल छोड़ दिए जाएं तो इसके बाद आज तक मुझे गांव में रहने का सौभाग्य नहीं मिला, लेकिन किसी न किसी बहाने जब भी मौका मिला, मैं गांवों में घूमा खूब हूं। शायद इसीलिए लोक कभी मुझसे जुदा नहीं हो पाया। शहरों में रहते हुए भी मैं हमेशा लोक के करीब रहा और लोक मेरे करीब। बीते दिनों जब बात चली कि अखिल गढ़वाल सभा कोरोनाकाल के दो साल बाद इस बार फिर देहरादून में 'कौथिग' का आयोजन करा रही है तो मन प्रफुल्लित हो उठा। वैसे तो बीते वर्षों में भी कौथिग में भागीदारी करता रहा हूं, लेकिन आखिल गढ़वाल सभा के सदस्य के रूप में यह पहला मौका है।

खास बात यह कि पहली बार कौथिग दस दिनों तक चलेगा और इस अवधि में लोक के हर रूप के दर्शन होंगे। गीतों में, बातों में, चर्चा-परिचर्चा में, नृत्य और नाटकों में लोक परिलक्षित होगा। आज कौथिग का पहला दिन था, जिसका आगाज शहर के केंद्रस्थल गांधीपार्क से रंगभरी सद्भावना रैली के साथ हुआ। रैली लोकवाद्यों की अनुगूंज के साथ गढ़वाली, कुमौनी, जौनसारी, नेपाली, जौनपुरी, भोटिया लोक संस्कृति के रंग बिखेरते हुई पूर्वाह्न 11 बजे अपने गंतव्य  रेसकोर्स के लिए आगे बढी़। मैं रैली में धारा चौकी के पास शामिल हुआ। पारंपरिक वेशभूषा में लोक नृत्यों पर थिरकते देहरादून में बसे पहाड़ के रैबासी और लोक कलाकार मनमोहक छटा बिखेर रहे थे। कुछ दूर चलने पर अखिल गढ़वाल सभा के महामंत्री गजेंद्र भंडारी नजर आए। उनके सिर पर सजी पहाडी़ काली टोपी की आभा देखते ही बन रही थी।

मेरे साथ उत्तरांचल प्रेस क्लब के महामंत्री ओपी बेंजवाल भी रैली का हिस्सा बने। हम प्रेस क्लब में अपना दुपहिया खडा़ कर रैली में शामिल हुए थे। मैंने भंडारी जी से हमें भी काली टोपी उपलब्ध कराने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने दो टोपी दी तो मैंने एक और प्रेस क्लब अध्यक्ष जितेंद्र आंथवाल के लिए भी मांग ली। उन्होंने तहसील चौक के आसपास रैली में शामिल होने की बात कही थी। इसके बाद हमने भी सिर पर टोपियां सजा लीं। घंटाकर से रैली पलटन बाजार की ओर मुड़ गई। जगह-जगह लोग रैली का अभिनंदन कर रहे थे। कोतवाली के पास अंथवाल जी भी रैली में शामिल हुए। मैंने उन्हें टोपी भेंट की और हम कुछ अन्य परिचितों के साथ रैली के आगे-आगे चलने लगे। तहसील चौक जाने वाले मोड़ पर व्यापारी पुष्प वर्षा कर रैली का स्वागत कर रहे थे। साथ ही सभी को पानी भी पिला रहे थे।

कुछ आगे चलकर रैली राजा रोड की ओर मुड़ गई और हाइवे पर पहुंचने के बाद सीधे कचहरी को जोड़ने वाले संपर्क मार्ग में प्रवेश किया। धीरे-धीरे हम कचहरी परिसर स्थित शहीद स्मारक की ओर बढे़। वहां अखिल गढ़वाल सभा से जुडी़ महिलाओं ने पुष्प वर्षा कर रैली की आगवानी की। स्मारक की परिक्रमा करने के बाद शहीदों का स्मरण करते हुए उनके चित्रों पर सभी ने बारी-बारी से पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की। इस दौरान शहीद स्मारक परिसर लोक की मधुर लहरियों से गूंज उठा। यहां से रैली कौथिग आयोजन स्थल की ओर बढ़ गई, जहां दोपहर दो बजे के बाद कौथिग का विधिवत शुभारांभ होना था। हमें आफिस पहुंचने की जल्दी थी, इसलिए हमने कचहरी परिसर से सीधे प्रेस क्लब का रुख किया।

लगभग 15 मिनट बाद हम क्लब पहुंचे। मैंने वहां एक घंटे क्लब की शीघ्र प्रकाशित होने वाली स्मारिका 'गुलदस्ता' में प्रकाशन के लिए आए लेखों का संपादन किया और फिर दोपहर का भोजन कर आफिस के लिए रवाना हो गया। संयोग देखिए कि इस बार अखिल गढ़वाल सभा की ओर से अपनी स्मारिका के संपादन मंडल में मुझे भी शामिल किया गया है। अपना लेख मैं पहले ही ई-मेल से गढ़वाल सभा को प्रेषित कर चुका हूं। अब देखते हैं, कैसे स्मारिका का कार्य आगे बढ़ता है। फिलहाल तो जल्द से जल्द 'गुलदस्ता' का प्रकाशन करना है और इसके लिए इन दिनों मैं पूरे मनोयोग से जुटा हुआ हूं।

Colors of culture scattered in Doon

No matter who the people are, they are very dear to me.  Lok suits me in every form, every color and I feel like drowning deep in it.  It is my endeavor that whenever I get time, it should be devoted to the people.  Although, except for the seven-eight years of my childhood, till today I did not get the fortune of living in the village, but whenever I got a chance on some pretext or the other, I used to visit the villages a lot.  Maybe that's why people could never get separated from me.  Even while living in the cities, I have always been close to the people and the people close to me.  Recently, when it came to light that Akhil Garhwal Sabha is once again organizing 'Kauthig' in Dehradun after two years of the Corona period, then my mind became elated.  Although I have been participating in Kauthig in the past years also, but this is the first time as a member of Akhil Garhwal Sabha.

The special thing is that for the first time Kauthig will last for ten days and during this period every form of people will be seen.  Folk will be reflected in songs, talks, discussions, dances and plays.  Today was the first day of Kauthig, which began with a colorful Sadbhavna Rally from Gandhi Park, the heart of the city.  The rally proceeded to its destination racecourse at 11 am, spreading the colors of Garhwali, Kumauni, Jaunsari, Nepali, Jaunpuri, Bhotia folk culture with echo of folk songs.  I joined the rally near Dhara Chowki.  Dancing on folk dances in traditional costumes, mountain rabasis and folk artists settled in Dehradun were spreading attractive shades.  After walking some distance, the General Secretary of Akhil Garhwal Sabha Gajendra Bhandari was seen.  The hill adorned on his head was becoming aura of black cap.

Along with me, OP Benzwal, General Secretary of Uttaranchal Press Club also became a part of the rally.  We had joined the rally by parking our two wheeler at the Press Club.  I requested Bhandari ji to provide us the black cap too.  They gave two caps, so I also asked for another Press Club President Jitendra Aanthwal.  He had talked about attending the rally around Tehsil Chowk.  After this we also decorated caps on our heads.  From Ghantakar, the rally turned towards Paltan Bazar.  People were felicitating the rally everywhere.  Anthwal ji also participated in the rally near Kotwali.  I presented him with a cap and we along with some other acquaintances proceeded to the rally.  Traders were welcoming the rally by showering flowers at the turn leading to Tehsil Chowk.  Along with this, everyone was also drinking water.

After some time, the rally turned towards Raja Road and after reaching the highway, directly entered the link road connecting the court.  Slowly we proceeded towards the martyr memorial located in the court complex.  There the women associated with Akhil Garhwal Sabha welcomed the rally by showering flowers.  After circumambulating the memorial, everyone took turns to pay floral tributes to the martyrs on their portraits.  During this, the Martyr Memorial complex resonated with the melodious waves of the people.  From here the rally proceeded towards the venue of the Kauthig, where after two o'clock in the afternoon, the formal inauguration of the Kauthig was to be held.  We were in a hurry to reach the office, so we headed straight from the court premises to the Press Club.

After about 15 minutes we reached the club.  I spent an hour there editing articles for publication in the Club's soon to be published souvenir 'Guldasta' and then left for office after having lunch.  Coincidentally, this time I have also been included in the editing board of my souvenir on behalf of Akhil Garhwal Sabha.  I have already sent my article to Garhwal Sabha by e-mail.  Now let's see how the work of the souvenir progresses.  For the time being, I have to publish 'Guldasta' as soon as possible and for this these days I am busy with all my heart.
