साहित्यिक बातचीत

आजकल न तो आफिस में कोई खास काम है, न खबरों में विविधता ही नजर आती है। उस पर  दिनचर्या में भी कोई बदलाव नहीं आ रहा। पहले ऐसे वातावरण में कुछ नया लिखने को मन होता था, लेकिन लंबे अर्से यह भी संभव नहीं हो पाया। कहानी, कविता, गीत, गज़ल, व्यंग्य- सबके स्रोत सूख गए से लगते हैं। इसलिए दोपहर का भोजन करने के बाद अगर कुछ वक्त मिलता है तो उसे मैं आराम करने में गुजार देता हूं। आज भी मैंने दोपहर का भोजन जल्दी कर लिया था और आफिस जाने में एक घंटा शेष था। इस समय का उपयोग पुस्तक पढ़ने में किया जा सकता था, लेकिन मन नहीं हुआ और मैं आंख मूंदकर आराम करने लगा।

  

दस-पंद्रह मिनट तो मैं ध्यान वाली अवस्था में रहा, किंतु इसके बाद कब आंख लग गई, पता ही नहीं चला। हालांकि, नींद गहरी नहीं थी और बीच-बीच में आंख खुल जा रही थीं। फिर भी ढाई बजे तक मैंने उठने की हिमाकत नहीं की। इसके बाद तैयार होकर मैं सीधे आफिस चला गया। अपराह्न साढे़ तीन बजे के आसपास जब मैं लाइब्रेरी में बैठा था, आफिस के रिसेप्शन काउंटर से ही लैंडलाइन पर एक फोन आया। बताया गया कि कोई उनियाल जी मुझसे बात करना चाहते हैं। आफिस में आए हैं, जाहिर है कोई परिचित ही होंगे, यह सोचकर मैंने रिसेप्शनिस्ट से उन्हें फोन देने को कहा। आभास हो रहा था कि मैं उन्हें जानता हूं।

  

दुआ-सलाम के बाद बात हुई तो उन्होंने अपना नाम कुणाल नारायण उनियाल बताया। बोले, "कुकरेती जी आपने पहले भी मेरी पुस्तक की समीक्षा की थी। अब मेरा दूसरा उपन्यास आया है "तीसरी दुनिया के रहस्य"। सोचा, इसे भी आप तक पहुंचा दूं।"

मैंने कहा, "ठीक है, पहुंचा दीजिए।"

"कहां पहुंचाऊं" - उनियाल जी बोले।

"रिसेप्शन पर ही दे दीजिए, पुस्तक पर मेरा नाम लिखकर। मुझ तक पहुंच जाएगी" - मैंने कहा।

"ये ठीक रहेगा, मैं पुस्तक को आपके नाम से यहीं छोड़ जाता हूं, देख लीजिए" - उनियाल जी ने कहा।

 इसके बाद फोन कट गया और मैं भी अपनी सीट पर आकर काम में जुट गया। लगभग 15 मिनट का वक्त गुजरा होगा कि इसी बीच फोन की घंटी घनघना उठी। काल साहित्यकार मित्र मुकेश नौटियाल की थी। रामा-रूमी के बाद बोले, "यार भाई साहब! लंबे समय से सोच रहा था कि किसी दिन साथ बैठ लिया जाए। थोडा़-बहुत साहित्य पर चर्चा भी हो जाएगी। आप भी टाइम निकाल दोगे ना?"

"बिल्कुल, आप जब भी कहोगे" - मैंने कहा

"तो ठीक है, मैं तय कर लेता हूं कि कब बैठना है, इसके बाद आपको भी बता दूंगा। वैसे आपके हिसाब से दिन कौन-सा ठीक रहेगा?" - मुकेश भाई बोले।

"किसी भी दिन बैठ लेंगे। इसके बाद तीन बजे मैं आफिस आ जाऊंगा" - मैंने कहा।

"यह अच्छा रहेगा भाई साहब! ...तो मैं आपको दो-एक दिन में बताता हूं" - मुकेश भाई ने कहा।

इसके बाद मैं खबरों की उधेड़बुन में जुट गया। दरअसल, साहित्यिक गतिविधियों के लिए मुकेश भाई मुझे हमेशा याद करते हैं। लेकिन, मैं तमाम किंतु-परंतु के चलते वक्त नहीं निकाल पाता। रूटीन ही ऐसा है, जो कहीं निकलने की अनुमति नहीं देता। लेकिन, इस बार अवश्य जाऊंगा। शुभचिंतक और आत्मीयजनों को बार-बार निराश करना किसी भी दृष्टि से उचित नहीं माना जा सकता। खैर! फिलहाल तो रात काफी हो चुकी है। हालांकि, मुझे इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता, लेकिन नींद दस्तक दे रही हो तो उसका अपमान कतई नहीं करना चाहिए। ...तो फिर आप सभी को शुभ रात्रि!!

Nowadays, neither there is any special work in the office, nor is there any diversity in the news.  But there is no change in the routine also.  Earlier there was a desire to write something new in such an environment, but it was not possible for a long time.  Story, poetry, song, ghazal, satire – all seem to have dried up.  So after having lunch, if I get some time, I spend it resting.  Even today I had my lunch early and there was an hour left to go to the office.  This time could have been used for reading the book, but I didn't feel like it and I rested blindly.

For ten-fifteen minutes, I remained in a meditative state, but after that I did not know when my eyes fell.  However, the sleep was not deep and the eyes were opening every now and then.  Still, I did not dare to get up till 2.30 pm.  After getting ready I went straight to the office.  Around 3.30 pm, while I was sitting in the library, I received a call on the landline from the reception counter of the office.  Was told that some Uniyal ji wanted to talk to me.  Having come to the office, apparently someone must be familiar, thinking that I asked the receptionist to give him the phone.  I felt like I knew them.

After the prayer and salute, he told his name as Kunal Narayan Uniyal.  Said, "Kukreti ji, you had reviewed my book earlier also. Now my second novel has come, "Secrets of the third world". Thought I should pass this on to you too."

I said, "Okay, bring it."

"Where should I reach" - said Uniyal ji

"Give it at the reception, by writing my name on the book. It will reach me" - I said.

"It will be fine, I will leave the book in your name here, see it" - said Uniyal.

After this the phone got disconnected and I also got back to my seat and started work.  It must have been about 15 minutes that in the meantime the phone bell rang.  The period was of literary friend Mukesh Nautiyal.  After Rama-Rumi said, "Man brother! I was thinking for a long time that we should sit together someday. A little literature will be discussed. You will also take out time, won't you?"

"Of course, whenever you say" - I said

"Okay then, I'll decide when to sit down, after that I'll tell you too. Well, which day do you think would be the best?"  - Mukesh Bhai said.

"We'll sit down any day. After that I'll be at the office at three o'clock" - I said.

"It will be good brother! ...then I will tell you in a day or two" - said Mukesh Bhai.

After that I got busy with the news.  Actually, Mukesh bhai always remembers me for his literary activities.  But, I am unable to take out time due to all the buts and buts.  Routine is such that it does not allow to go anywhere.  But, this time I will definitely go.  Repeatedly disappointing well-wishers and loved ones cannot be considered appropriate from any point of view.  So!  For now, it is enough night.  Although, I do not mind, but if sleep is knocking, then it should not be insulted at all.  ...then good night to all of you!!
