बाइक और मैं

चलिए! कुछ तो सुकून मिला। जेब तो ढीली होनी ही थी, पर बाइक के पेट्रोल टैंक का ढक्कन तो बदल गया। सुबह जब तक मैंने बाइक गैराज में नहीं पहुंचा दी, ढक्कन मिलने को लेकर आशंकित था, लेकिन मैकेनिक के भरोसा दिलाने पर मन का बोझ हल्का हो गया। मैकेनिक ने बताया कि 700 रुपये तक खर्चा आएगा और इतना मैं मानकर चल ही रहा था। उसने यह भी कहा कि दोपहर दो बजे तक मैं बाइक ले जा सकता हूं, वह फोन करके बता देगा। यह भी मेरे लिए सुकून वाली बात थी, अन्यथा फिर पैदल ही आफिस जाना पड़ता। लौटना तो पैदल था ही। 

इसके बाद मैंने मैकेनिक को दो-एक काम और बताए और हैलमेट को गैराज में ही रखकर कमरे में लौट आया। साथ ही बाइक में थोडा़ पेट्रोल डलवाने को भी कह आया, क्योंकि मेरे हिसाब से टंकी में पेट्रोल ना के बराबर बचा था।  दोपहर का भोजन करने के उपरांत ढाई बजे के आसपास मैंने मैकेनिक को फोन किया तो उसने बताया कि बाइक तैयार हो गई है, मैं उसे ले जा सकता हूं। सो, कमरे से मैं सीधे गैराज पहुंच गया। मैकेनिक ने बताया कि ढक्कन महंगा पडा़ है, ठीक एक हजार रुपये खर्च हुए। अब खर्चे को कम करने का तो मेरे पास कोई उपाय नहीं था, सो एक हजार रुपये उसे गूगल पे कर दिए।

जो अन्य काम मैंने मैकेनिक को बताए थे, वह उसने नहीं किए। मैंने विशेषकर उसे बताया था कि इंजन से बूंद-बूंद आयल टपक रहा है। उसने बताया कि इसके लिए बाइक खराद में ले जानी होगी, इसलिए सर्विसिंग के दौरान ही यह कार्य करवाना। मेरे पूछने पर उसने यह भी बताया कि बूंद-बूंद आयल से कुछ नहीं होता। आयल जमीन में फैल जाता है, इसलिए ज्यादा लगता है। यही नहीं, मैकेनिक ने बाइक में पेट्रोल भी नहीं डलवाया था। कहने लगा, टाइम ही नहीं मिला, लेकिन चिंता की बात नहीं, बाइक आराम से पेट्रोल पंप तक पहुंच जाएगी। धुकधुकी तो थी कि कहीं रास्ते में पेट्रोल खत्म न हो जाए, लेकिन ऐसा हुआ नहीं और बाइक पेट्रोल पंप तक पहुंच गई।

मैंने 200 रुपये का पेट्रोल भरवाकर क्रेडिट कार्ड से उसका भुगतान कर दिया। पेट्रोल आजकल सौ रुपये लीटर हो रखा है, लेकिन मजबूरी है भरवाना। हालांकि, सरकार के चाटुकार और दलाल (अंधभक्त कहना ज्यादा उपयुक्त रहेगा) तो कह रहे हैं कि जरूरी थोडे़ है बाइक चलाना। उनका तो हर चीज के लिए यही तर्क है। मसलन टमाटर, मटर, प्याज महंगे हैं तो उन्हें खाना छोड़ दो, दालें और सरसों का तेल न खरीदो वगैरह-वगैरह। खैर! अंधयुग में ऐसा होना स्वाभाविक है और यह तब तक रहेगा, जब तक कि आत्मविमुग्धता में तन के कपडे़ चीथडे़ नहीं हो जाते।

बहरहाल! बाइक ठीक हो गई तो मुझे कमरे तक पैदल नहीं आना पडा़। हालांकि, पैदल चलने में नुकसान नहीं, फायदा ही फायदा है। शहरों में पैदल चलने के मौके अब रह ही कहां गए हैं। जाहिर है स्वास्थ्य पर इसका दुष्प्रभाव तो पड़ ही रहा होगा। खुशकिस्मती से मुझे तो ऐसे मौके अक्सर मिल जाते हैं। हां! इतना जरूर है जिस दिन कमरे में पैदल आना होता है, उस दिन भोजन बनाने में विलंब हो जाता है। वैसे यह कोई बडी़ बात नहीं है और कम से कम मैं तो इसकी परवाह कतई नहीं करता।

Let go!  Got some relief.  The pocket had to be loosened, but the cover of the petrol tank of the bike was changed.  I was apprehensive about getting the cover until I took the bike to the garage in the morning, but when the mechanic assured me, the burden of my mind became lighter.  The mechanic told that it would cost up to Rs 700 and I was assuming that much.  He also said that by two o'clock in the afternoon I can take the bike, he will call and tell.  This was also a comforting thing for me, otherwise I would have had to go to the office on foot.  Returning was on foot.

After this I told the mechanic two more tasks and returned to the room keeping the helmet in the garage.  Along with this, he was also asked to put some petrol in the bike, because according to me, there was hardly any petrol left in the tank.  After having lunch around 2.30 pm I called the mechanic and he told that the bike is ready, I can take it.  So, from the room I went straight to the garage.  The mechanic told that the lid is expensive, exactly one thousand rupees were spent.  Now I did not have any way to reduce the expenses, so one thousand rupees were given to him on Google.

He didn't do the other things I told the mechanic.  I specifically told him that the engine was dripping oil drop by drop.  He told that for this the bike will have to be taken to the lathe, so this work should be done only during servicing.  When I asked, he also told that drop by drop of oil does not do anything.  Oil spreads on the ground, so it takes more.  Not only this, the mechanic did not even put petrol in the bike.  Started saying, did not get time, but not to worry, the bike will reach the petrol pump comfortably.  There was a shock that the petrol should not run out on the way, but it did not happen and the bike reached the petrol pump.

I filled petrol of Rs 200 and paid it through credit card.  Petrol nowadays has been kept at 100 rupees a liter, but it is a compulsion to fill it.  However, the sycophants and touts of the government (it would be more appropriate to say blind devotees) are saying that riding a bike is a little necessary.  This is his reasoning for everything.  For example, tomatoes, peas, onions are expensive, so stop eating them, don't buy pulses and mustard oil, etcetera.  So!  It is natural for this to happen in Andha Yuga, and it will remain so until the clothes of the body are torn apart in self-distraction.

However!  The bike got fixed so I didn't have to walk till the room.  However, there is no harm in walking, there is only benefit.  Where are the opportunities for walking in cities now?  Obviously it must be having an adverse effect on health.  Luckily, I often get such opportunities.  Yes!  It is necessary that on the day one has to walk into the room, there is a delay in preparing food.  Well it's not a big deal and at least I don't care at all.
